On Friday 22 March, Velocity will take over the Velodrome track at the National Cycling Centre, the home of British Cycling, for 24 hours of non-stop cycling for charity with sporting and celebrity teams.
Participants could win a one hour session with an Olympic cyclist, a trip for two to Carrington to watch training and meet City players, a family mascot package for a Premier League game in the 2013/14 season, or hospitality tickets to a Robbie Williams concert at the Etihad Stadium this summer. Other prizes include bespoke Velocity cycling shirts, signed City shirts, tickets to matches at the Etihad and stadium tours.
City in the Community will be helping to organise the day and will require extra help during the event. The event will be split into 5 different blocks, this is so staff and volunteers don’t have to work throughout the full event. The times are.
1. Friday 22nd March 5pm – 10pm (6 Volunteers)
2. Friday 22nd March/Saturday 23rd March 10pm – 3am (4Volunteers) 3. Saturday 23rd March 3am – 8am (4 Volunteers)
4. Saturday 23rd March 8am -1pm (6 Volunteers)
5. Saturday 23rd March 1pm – 7pm (6 Volunteers)
Volunteers will be required to show the riders around the venue, help with timings of the participants laps ,to offer support to the riders if they have any questions and to be a nice friendly face for all involved.
Volunteers will only be require to help out on one of these shift, however if they would like to do more that will be great.
